Bell & Ross superfans already know that some of the square-faced luxury brand’s watches are inspired by actual flight instruments, and now B&R is looking beyond the cockpit for design cues.
The Paris-based watchmaker recently dropped a limited-edition pilot’s timepiece inspired by the iconic MA-1 flight jacket, first adopted by the U.S. Air Force in the 1950s.
The new BR 03-92 MA-1 borrows from the reversible khaki and orange nylon bomber jacket that’s a straight-up style classic, and features plenty of what one might expect from a high-end Bell & Ross watch to boot.
Limited to just 999 pieces (because evidently 1,000 would be too many), the new watch is is powered by Bell & Ross’ calibre BR-CAL.302 automatic movement and features a 42-mm case constructed from khaki-colored ceramic, which is both lightweight and scratch-resistant.
The dual-layer “sandwich-style” metal dial has two superimposed lower plates, with the lower one coated with luminescent orange “Super-Luminova” that pops through the cut-out numbers and the hour and minute hands.
And just like the MA-1 flight jacket, the khaki calfskin leather strap is lined in orange and reversible. So you’ve got that going for you.
The BR 03-92 MA-1 is set to drop this June and will be priced at $3,900. Head here to pre-order if you’re feeling it.
