J.E.D.I. Adds New York City, Colorado Dates With Marc Brownstein, Aron Magner, Eddie Roberts, & More

Aaron Johnston’s J.E.D.I. (Jazz Electronic Dance Improvised) project has announced a New York City show on Wednesday, March 20th at Nublu, adding to the emerging act’s previously announced Northeast run. Both Marc Brownstein and Aron Magner of The Disco Biscuits will join Johnston (Brazilian Girls), along with special guests DJ Logic and guitarist Avi Bortnick (John Scofield’s Uberjam).

J.E.D.I. has also announced an additional show at Fort Collins, CO’s Aggie Theatre on Wednesday, April 10th ahead of their performance at The Big Melt on Saturday, April 13th at Denver’s The Fillmore Auditorium. Eddie Roberts (The New Mastersounds), Borahm Lee (Break Science/Pretty Lights Live Band), and Ashish Vyas (Thievery Corporation Live Band) will unite with Johnston on the Fort Collins show, with support yet to be announced.

Brooklyn, NY-based space-funk/psych-rock outfit Escaper will support J.E.D.I on their Nublu NYC date. In addition to that performance, the group will support at Toad’s Place in New Haven, CT on March 21st, and Putnam Place in Saratoga Springs, NY on March 23rd. J.E.D.I.’s show at Metronome in Burlington, VT will be a special “Evening With” performance.

For The Big Melt performance, Johnston will lead Vyas, Lee, and Roberts, along with both Michael Kang and Jason Hann of. That event will also feature performances from Eric Krasno & Friends, Dominic Lalli’s Bluebird Quintet, and Purple Party: A Tribute to Prince).

Down in New Orleans during Jazz Fest, Johnston will be joined once again by Michael Kang and Jason Hann, along with Marc Brownstein, Nate Edgar (The Nth Power), Borahm Lee (Break Science), and DJ Logic at One Eyed Jacks for a special late-night show on Friday, May 3rd (technically May 4th beginning at 2am) after The String Cheese Incident’s headlining performance at Mardi Gras World.  

With a run of high-profile dates this spring and the recent release of the band’s first single, “Back Atcha,” via Eddie Roberts’ Color Red Studios, Johnston explains the true nature of his J.E.D.I. project: “All this music and musicians have come together in an organic fashion and I look forward to it continuing and evolving with time.” J.E.D.I. will release its second single on March 19th.
