Southern Avenue teamed up with pop hitmaker Jason Mraz to write “Move Into The Light”, the new single out today on all streaming platforms. The track follows “Push Now” as the second single from the Memphis-based blues/soul/jam outfit’s forthcoming LP, Be The Love You Want.
As powerhouse frontwoman Tierinii Jackson said of the new track to American Songwriter, “It’s just such a unique collaboration. Jason understands that the vibe of Southern Avenue is very positive, so his approach lyrically perfectly matched the direction for the album.”
Continues Jackson, “When he turned up with the song, I was so grateful. We reworked it with the band and made it all churchy and soulful and as Memphis-y as we could. It turned out really, really great. It’s kind of a wild card because it’s more of a dance song, but it’s still got that church vibe, it still has the soul.”

With a distortion-heavy, earworm guitar riff, a funky, driving urgency, an airtight groove, well-placed horn blasts, and lyrics that feel destined to be stuck in heads for weeks to come, “Move Into The Light” continues to build the already considerable excitement for the new album’s official release.
