Bitchin Bajas Announce New Album ‘Bajascillators’ & Share Single

48

Bitchin Bajas will release a new album entitled Bajascillators through Drag City on September 2. The band shared the lead single, “Amorpha,” from the upcoming LP.

Bitchin Bajas’ new album follows the 2021 release of a covers album featuring the works of Sun Ra, Switched On Ra. The four-song Bajascillators is the group’s first official full length release since 2017’s Bajas Fresh.

With a running time of nine minutes, “Amorpha” is the shortest of the songs making up Bajascillators as the other three run longer than 10 minutes each. The album was mastered directly from half-inch analog tape with each song taking up one side of the double vinyl LP.

According to the new record’s Drag City listing:

Bajascillators rolls four unique numbers that act on their own AND as extensions of each other, phases in perfect flow…wave after wave of analog synth tones and zones extending into a stratospheric arc. Each time, as the needle cradles into the playout groove, you the listener are becalmed, in stasis, forever changed. Until you flip the side — and forever changes again…

Bitchin Bajas — Cooper Crain, Rob Frye and Dan Quinlivan — will play a select number of shows in October in the Midwest in support of Bajascillators. Stream “Amorpha,” which has parts “created using Laurie Spiegel’s Music Mouse software,” below:
