Goose played three sets each night at Radio City Music Hall. The band was joined by special guests saxophonist Stuart Bogie, trombonist Dave Nelson and guitarist D. James Goodwin for “Hot Tea” and “Arrow” as part of their third frame on Friday, June 24. Goodwin produced Dripfield, a studio album that came out the same day.

On Saturday, Goose welcomed Father John Misty and Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio. Father John Misty (Joshua Tillman) led the quintet through “I’m Writing A Novel,” while Anastasio contributed to the majority of the evening’s third set. Both Tillman and Anastasio returned for the “Tomorrow Never Knows” encore.

The Radio City “Day Of Show” visual documents Goose soundchecking at the venue, greeting their guests, getting a pep talk from crew member Jon “Coach” Lombardi, learning about Trey’s rig and more. Check out the Bryan Murphy-directed video below:

In other Goose-related news, impresario Peter Shapiro revealed guitarist Rick Mitarotonda will be part of Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh’s Phil Lesh & Friends lineup for three upcoming concerts at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York. Phil Lesh & Friends will play nine shows at The Cap between October 14 and Halloween. Shapiro shared the tidbit with SPIN during an interview about his new book, The Music Never Stops: What Putting on 10,000 Shows Has Taught Me About Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Magic. He did not disclose which nights will feature Mitarotonda.

SPIN’s Jonathan Cohen asked Shapiro, who owns The Capitol Theatre, about Phil’s ever-changing lineups. Read how Shapiro responded below:

One of the best and most fortunate things I’ve ever gotten to do is work with Phil at the Cap. Phil is 82, but we’re doing nine more shows in October. He has trust in me to put the Phil & Friends lineups together, with his approval of course. Rick from Goose is going to play three nights with Phil on this run. I’ve tried to bring people like Billy Strings, Eric Krasno, Chris Robinson and Robert Randolph into this. I’m working on getting Marcus King on a Phil thing. Phil would rather play with newer, younger people.

Stay tuned for an official announcement.
