Organizers of Oceans Calling Festival announced they have canceled the event due to severe weather caused by Hurricane Ian. The debut of the three-day music festival was set to begin on Friday along the boardwalk in Ocean City, MD.
“Due to unsafe weather conditions on the Oceans Calling Festival grounds caused by Hurricane Ian and additional severe weather conditions forecasted for the rest of the weekend, we have made the difficult and heartbreaking decision to cancel this weekend’s Oceans Calling Festival,” organizers announced on Thursday afternoon.
Those who purchased tickets directly through Front Gate Tickets will receive a full refund to their original payment method within 30 days. The festival was set to feature headlining sets from Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds, The Lumineers, and Alanis Morissette.
“We hoped for a better outcome and are disappointed to share this news, however, the safety of our fans, artists and staff is our top priority,” Oceans Calling organizers added.

This news comes as Hurricane Ian, now downgraded to a tropical storm, makes its way to Georgia and the Carolinas. Umphrey’s McGee has postponed a four-night run of Southeastern shows, pushing dates in Wilmington, NC and Birmingham, AL to late April. The band also canceled a show in Richmond, VA and is currently working on a make-up date for a show in Savannah, GA.
