Pearl Jam Plays ‘Sad’ In Ontario

47

Pearl Jam busted out “Sad” for the first time in six years as part of their performance Tuesday night in Hamilton, Ontario. The audience at FirstOntario Centre was treated to a setlist featuring several additional songs not played by the band in several years.

Frequent opener “Oceans” from their 1991 debut album, Ten, kicked off Tuesday’s concert in Canada. “Nothingman” landed in the second slot, ahead of two songs last performed by Pearl Jam in 2018, “Yellow Moon” and “Man Of The Hour,” which were played partially acoustic with the band seated. Later in the set, frontman Eddie Vedder led the band through the rarity “I’m Open” ahead of “Sad” marking the Lost Dogs track’s first performance since August 20, 2016, per livefootsteps.org.

A pair of Ten selections wrapped up the 19-song set, with “Black” tagged with “Androgynous Mind” and Ricki Lee Jones’ “We Belong Together,” followed by “Porch” serving as the closer. Pearl Jam’s concert was punctuated with a six-song encore as they worked through “Inside Job,” “Once,” “Wishlist,” “State Of Love And Trust,” “Alive” and “Indifference.”

Pearl Jam’s North American Tour 2022 continues its way through Canada with a show in Toronto on Thursday, September 8. Watch the “Sad” bust out and other rarities from last night in Hamilton via the audience-shot video footage below:
