You won’t be able to score Lamborghini’s latest flagship for some time, as orders for the new, 1,001-horsepower hybrid Revuelto are already filled up for two years. But you can bid on a much rarer and arguably more prestigious piece of Raging Bull history at Bring a Trailer.
One of only 20 coupes produced, the Lamborghini Reventon was inspired by the Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor, a single-seat, stealth tactical fighter jet that’s still in use by the United States Air Force today.
The car’s “Grigio Reventon” gray color and razor-sharp lines—particularly the trapezoidal side intakes in front of the rear wheels—allude to the F-22 Raptor’s form.
As it pertains to Lambo lineage, the Reventon served a concept roadcar with a design that foreshadowed the Aventador, Car and Driver notes. While a 2006 Miura concept had suggested that Lamborghini may be looking to the past for inspo, the overwhelmingly positive response to the Reventon smashed that notion when it was unveiled a year later.
This meaner, leaner version of the 2000s-era Lamborghini Murcielago flagship featured one of the final examples of the first-generation Lamborghini V12—the 6.5-liter unit produces 641 horsepower at 8,000 RPM.
This version, trimmed in black leather and gray-green Alcantara, is No. 5 of 20 and has only 457 miles on the odometer. It cost just over $1 million new in 2007, and the current bid on Bring a Trailer is $1.45 million. The Reventon is about as rare as supercars come, so don’t expect to see another one for some time.
