Lotus held a two-night benefit for the family of percussionist Chuck Morris and his son Charley, who passed away while kayaking on a family vacation in Arkansas on March 16th, at The Fillmore Auditorium in Denver. The shows were the first of four planned benefits, with two remaining in Harrisburg, PA and Port Chester, NY on May 5th and 6th.

Chuck’s percussion gear was set up in its usual spot, decorated with flowers and illuminated by a spotlight as Mike Greenfield, Tim Palmieri, Luke Miller, and Jesse Miller took the stage. Chuck’s Lotus bandmates were joined by an extensive lineup of special guests throughout the night, including former Lotus members Mike Rempel, Steve Clemens, and Gabe Otto, as well as Jeff Franca (Thievery Corporation), Allen Aucoin (Disco Biscuits), Dave Watts (The Motet), Joey Porter (The Motet), Jeff Lloyd (Heavy Pets), Rohan Prakash (Hive Mind), Wilson (Giant Walking Robots), Scotty Zwang (Ghost Light), Jeff Peterson, Anthony Fugate, and members of Genetics. The shows were livestreamed via nugs.net, with 100% of proceeds going to support Chuck’s family.

Conscious Alliance also chipped in to support the Morris family with a special poster and auction. Bidding for the auction has ended, but posters are available here with a suggested donation of $50.

Check out pro-shot videos and a gallery of photos from photographer Zach Culver (Zatchmo Lives Media), and scroll down to view the setlist. For tickets to the remaining Chuck Morris benefit shows, click here, or head here for more information.

A fund has been set up to support the Morris family’s financial needs. Donations can be made here.
