Decorated guitarist and bandleader Eric Krasno will spearhead a hybrid tribute to Jimi Hendrix and The Grateful Dead with a special Jimi’s Dead performance during the first weekend of New Orleans Jazz Fest 2024. The special live combination of Jimi and Dead favorites is set to take place at New Orleans, LA’s Toulouse Theatre on Friday, April 26th, 2024 [get tickets].

In addition to Krasno, the New Orleans Jazz Fest late-night edition of Jimi’s Dead: A Mashup of Jimi Hendrix & The Grateful Dead will feature Ross James (Phil Lesh & The Terrapin Family Band) on bass and Nikki Glaspie (The Nth Power) on drums with talented young guitarist Brandon “Taz” Niederauer set to join in as a special guest.

Eric Krasno has ample experience with the music of both Jimi Hendrix and the Grateful Dead. He has incorporated songs from both acts into the repertoires of his various groups, from instrumental renditions of Hendrix favorites like “Crosstown Traffic” and “Manic Depression” with his beloved organ trio, Soulive, to moving takes on the Jerry Garcia/Robert Hunter songbook with outfits like Phil Lesh & FriendsOteil & Friends, and more. With Jimi’s Dead, he’ll dive headfirst into the eclectic repertoires of both bands and present a potent mix of the best that Jimi and Jerry had to offer.
