Many late night television shows returned to the air last night with new episodes after five months following the end of the writers strike which also meant the return of musical performances on the programs. Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit played “When We Were Close” off their recently released Weathervanes album on Monday’s installment of Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Weathervanes arrived on Southeastern Records/Thirty Tigers back on Friday, June 9. Isbell produced the 13-track follow-up to 2020’s Reunions.
Frontman Jason Isbell was joined by an augmented 400 Unit lineup as touring member Will Johnson was on lead guitar instead of Sadler Vaden. Bassist Jimbo Hart continues a hiatus from the road with Anna Butterss filling in.
Jason Isbell And The 400 Unit resumes their fall tour this Saturday, October 7 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Check out the band’s “When We Were Close” performance from last night’s Kimmel below:
