Neil Young and Stephen Stills will reunite on October 5th for a benefit concert in Lake Hughes, CA dubbed Harvest Moon. The day-long festival-like event will raise money for The Painted Turtle and Young’s The Bridge School.

Harvest Moon will take place on the grounds of The Painted Turtle camp outside Los Angeles. The camp provides a year-round free and transformative experience to children with serious medical conditions. The concert will also raise funds for The Bridge School, founded by Neil’s late wife Pegi Young in 1986 as an education center for children with severe speech and physical impediments. From 1986 to 2016, Young hosted an annual Bridge School benefit concert at Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, CA. This will mark the second Harvest Moon gathering, following a 2019 edition featuring Young, Norah Jones, Father John Misty, and Masanga.

The concert will begin as fans arrive to the music of marimba ensemble Masagna. Young and Stills will play individual sets during the day, in addition to other performers to be announced, before the event culminates in a sunset performance. The previous installment of the concert ended with Young performing “Harvest Moon” with the day’s other artists. Young and Stills, who famously worked together in Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, most recently collaborated at Stephen’s Light Up The Blues autism benefit concert in April 2023, which marked Young’s first ticketed performance in four years.

“We’re thrilled to welcome the community to Harvest Moon at the Painted Turtle,” said April Tani, executive director of the Painted Turtle. “This event not only brings together amazing musicians and families but also raises vital funds for two organizations committed to changing lives. It’s a day of music, fun, and philanthropy—what could be better?”

In order to maintain an intimate environment, a limited number of general admission tickets for the event will go on sale on Friday, September 6th for $275, including fees. The concert will offer VIP packages which include overnight cabin lodging, camp activities, and a gourmet dinner prepared by a top chef. Find tickets and more information here and stay tuned for additional artist announcements.

This news comes less than three months after Young abruptly canceled his remaining summer tour dates with Crazy Horse. At the time, Young wrote “When a couple of us got sick after Detroit’s Pine Knob, we had to stop. We are still not fully recovered, so sadly our great tour will have a big unplanned break.” In a recent Zoom video for Neil Young Archives subscribers, Young elaborated, “I was doing great and we were moving right along. Everybody’s loving the shows. Then I just woke up one morning on the bus and I said, ‘I can’t do this. I gotta stop.’ It was like I felt sick when I thought of going on stage. My body was telling me, ‘You gotta stop.’ So I listened to my body.” He is set to return to the stage on September 21st for Farm Aid at Broadview Stage at SPAC in Saratoga Springs, NY.
